Late spring and summer can be the most perfect time to buy a new home. It gives the buyer a chance to move, hopefully, with good weather and a sense of a fresh start. Another good reason to buy in late spring or summer is that kids are out of school and can have time to adjust to a new area, routine, and school if need be. There are also a few other considerations to keep in mind when changing locations with kids.
Activities – Before you make the move, check the area you are moving to for early activity sign-ups. Summer time activities that are kid friendly, like camps and day events, have a tendency to fill up quickly. Make sure your child doesn’t miss out on this opportunity to make new friends before the school year starts. It will give them a leg up before the fall and give you time to meet some parents. It may also give you some free time to finish unpacking in peace, while your kids are off having fun.
Sports/4H/FAA – One of the great things about living in Colorado is that there are so many activities for children, that are not just mainstream sport oriented. There are a lot of opportunities for non-traditional sports such as rock climbing, mountain biking, and rodeo, to name a few. Your children can also get involved in youth volunteering, 4H, FAA, and many more. Check with the local school district and town webpage for all the options which are available to you and your children.
Family Outings – The beauty of Colorado is one that can be explored as a family. Many places are family friendly and offer a variety of activities that can be shared. There are ponds and lakes, hiking trails, biking trails, museums, zoo’s, and wildlife sanctuary’s. Take the time to talk about these activities to help your children get excited about the move. Moving can be hard on kids for many reasons but letting their imaginations run free with thoughts of what can be done together, can help ease the move.
